Ladies and gentlemen, you already have got your skincare routine such as cream, lotion, essence, toner, but have you ever stopped to think that does it matter to apply all sequently? Most people might think that applying skin care unorderly is similar to when we consume food. No matter what you eat first, every single bite goes through the same digestive trail and absorbs in the same way. BUT, they actually overlook. According to Kate Tart, ead esthetician for Derma E, applying your skin care products in the proper order ensures that your skin receives the full benefits of each product. So, we are here to guide you the best way to layer your skincare products to reap all the best benefits.

Step 1: Cleanser
It’s important to remove all makeup on your face before applying skin care. Some people usually say “I don’t put makeup, I don’t need to use cleanser”. That’s totally wrong! Your skin is full of makeup, dirt, pollution, and oil from one day. Even in the morning, the oil can also cover up on the surface of your skin. Once it is built up on your face, it can lead to the skin problems. When you clean every dirty thing on your face, it will make your face clean, smooth as the pores will be opened and ready to absorb the benefits of the skin care products.
Step2: Toner
“I already wash my face, why do I need to use toner?”. Some people may perceive that Toner is a water-based liquid with a consistency like vinegar that contains active ingredients to help address specific issues, says Schlessinger. Moreover, it helps protect the environmental contamination, and prep your skin for the treatment and absorbing the following skin care products. So, be sure to don’t skip this step.

Step 3: Essence
Some people may wonder that how is it different from toner? Actually, toner is used to remove last traces of cleanse, but facial essence is lightweight, hydrating liquid, designed to help prepare skin for your moisturiser, and balance the skin after cleansing. It may feel a bit more creamy compared to toner and contains higher levels of active ingredients to penetrate deeper into the skin.

Step 4: Eye cream
It’s important to layer eye cream first before any treatment products because the skin around the eyes is more delicate than the race of your face, and it requires the most attention since it shows signs of aging first and tiredness from the panda eyes. So, regularly using eyes cream over time will improve the eyes’ elasticity and prevent wrinkles and panda eyes.

Step 5: Serum
Now your skin is all prepped and absolutely clean. It’s time to put thinner consistency products such as serum. It’s important to apply serum as closed to the bare skin as possible, so the serum can penetrate into the skin without being inhibited. There are many types of serums, such as for moisture, for sensitive skin, for brightening, for lifting and so on. To choose the serum, it depends on the problem that you want to solve and what you want to correct on your face.
Step 6: Moisturizer [at night and optional in the morning]
Skin does the bulk of its repairing, restoring and regenerating as we sleep. This is why night creams are normally thicker and heavier in order to be absorbed over the course of several hours. Even if your skin type is oily, it’s still important to use moisturizer to maintain the skin balance and hydration after cleansing the face. Different types of moisturizer depends on different skin types So. it’s significant to listen to your skin, so you can make sure you’re caring for it accordingly.

Step 7: Sunscreen [for Morning]
Don’t leave your house without applying SPF protection even on a cloudy day. Sunscreen helps protect your skin from harmful radiation from the sun, and helps reduce your risk for skin cancer, premature aging and sunburn. Make sure that your sunblock is contained at least SPF 30 protection, and apply it at least 15 minutes before going outdoor.
To make it easy, apply the skin care products in order of thinnest to thickest. Also, consider which type of products is most suitable for your skin condition because what may work for your best friend may not be ideally suited for you.
